Do Justice

Described on his website and by the BBC as “Bruce Springsteen having English tea with Billy Bragg” Rob Halligan is an award winning recording artist and songwriter.

Quite frankly, I'd never heard of him until our Vicar told us he was coming to do a concert at St. James Doncaster. If you weren't there on the 25th Nevember 2016 then you missed a great night.

The "best is yet to come" is a well-known promise that is precious to we who are Christians. When Rob had completed his set there was a call for an encore so he came back on and did two or three more songs. The very last song "Do Justice" was for me one of those "best is yet to come" moments and its a track on his "Love Come Down" CD which I was able to buy after the concert.

The chorus, which he taught us and which enabled us to sing along with him and enter in to the spirit of it goes like this:

"Do justice, love mercy, walky humbly, walk humbly..."

I was not absolutely certain where those words or those sentiments are to be found in the Bible but I eventually discovered them hidden away in Micah 6v8:

He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God?

Words alone don't do full justice to it - you have to hear him sing so....
